It was another split of two games for Siena water polo on Sunday at the Bison Invitational. The Saints earned their second win in a 14-5 rout of Gannon, but fell 11-8 to host Bucknell to finish the season-opening tournament with a 2-2 record.
The morning game against Gannon started out as a close one, with the teams tied at 3 at one point. However, the Saints scored 11 of the game's final 13 goals to win going away. The offense was led by Jackie Crosby, who scored six goals and added an assist, while Camille Norman had another big game with four goals and four assists. Additionally, Siena's defense was very strong in the win, with sophomores Veronica Bone and Cally Timm each coming away with four steals.
The tournament's final matchup started badly, as Bucknell was up 8-3 on Siena at the half. However, like in their first game of the day, Siena finished strong, outscoring the Bison 5-3 in the final two periods. Norman had six more points (two goals, four assists), while Devan Ragg added three goals and an assist. Sophomore Stephani Pouder was sharp in net, recording 13 saves and a steal in the losing effort.
The Saints will next travel to Poughkeepsie for Saturday's Marist Invitational.
