Box Score
Taylor Hubbell threw a complete game shutout, out-dueling Siena senior Zach Hartman as the Saints lost their third straight one-run decision to the Rajin' Cajuns, 1-0, on getaway day Sunday. Siena out-hit Louisiana for the second straight day, 7-4, but a third inning run proved to be the difference.
The Saints threatened to pull even, or possibly take the lead, loading the bases with no outs in the sixth inning. Hubbell struck out Larry Balkwill and Kyle Baldani for the first two outs, and exited the inning by getting Vincent Citro to fly out to left field.
John Rooney and Dan Paolini each had two of Siena's seven hits.
Hubbell retired nine of the final 11 batters he faced, working past Rooney's two-out triple in the seventh.
Hartman tossed six innings, allowing just the one run, and three hits. Freshman Neil Fryer relieved him and worked the final two innings without allowing a run.
Louisiana picked up the game's only run on a Ryan Leonards infield single to shortstop in the third inning. That scored Chris Sinclair who doubled earlier in the inning.
The saints head south again next weekend, playing a three-game set with Charleston Southern that begins with a doubleheader Saturday.
