No. 30 Stetson salvaged a series split with improving Siena Wednesday night in Deland, Fla. 5-1. Dan Paolini's fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning accounted for the Saints' only run.

Will Dorsey shut down the Siena bats, pitching six strong innings and allowing just three hits and the one run to pick up the victory for the Hatters.

Sophomore Jake Werdesheim got the start on the mound for Siena, and allowed just one run entering the fifth inning before the Hatters broke through to score three times. It was the first appearance for Werdesheim since March 7 of last year due to injury. He tossed 4.2 innings, and gave up six hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

Paolini made it a 4-1 deficit with the long ball to left in the sixth, and freshman Neil Fryer kept the Saints within striking distance throughout, sacrificing just one run in 3.1 innings of relief.

Jake Werdesheim was solid in his return to the active rotation Wednesday

John Rooney and Kevin Quaranto had two hits apiece for Siena. Quaranto got a spot starter at catcher, and performed well behind the dish.

Stetson got on the board with an unearned run in the first following a Siena throwing error - the Saints' only error in the two game set.

Robert Crews, Nick Rickles and Kyle Zech each had two hits for Stetson, which improved to 13-4 on the season.

Siena had its four-game win streak snapped. The Saints play a four game set at Dayton this weekend, beginning with Friday's series-opener at 3 p.m.
