Final Stats
Dan Paolini homered twice and drove in six runs, but the Saints couldn't overcome a nine-run fifth inning in an 11-8 loss at Army Tuesday.
Siena took a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the fifth thanks to a two-run homer by Paolini in the first, and a two-run rally in the fifth capped off by a Vincent Citro RBI single, but Army scored nine runs on seven hits to take command of the game in their next at bat.
Trailing 11-4 entering the seventh, Paolini brought the Saints within two runs with a one-out grand slam, his seventh home run of the season and 44th of his career - three shy of the program's all-time record (Ryan Finn '02 - 47).
Citro joined Paolini with three hits to lead Siena. Freshman Ken Kirshner added two hits and a run scored. The Saints out-hit the Black Knights 10-9.
Zach Price and Clint Moore each had two hits to lead Army. Jon Crucitti delivered the big blow - a three-run homer in the decisive fifth.
Siena has a quick turn, returning to the road to face Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon.
