Final Stats
The Siena baseball team lost its sixth game in eight days Saturday, falling 11-6 to Binghamton in Loudonville. Peter Bergartner had three hits and four RBI, leading five Bearcats with multi-hit games, and helping Binghamton to just its fifth win in 20 games this season.
Larry Balkwill and Vincent Citro each had two of Siena's 11 hits. Balkwill's first inning single tied the game at 1-1. Binghamton answered with a run in the second, and never trailed again.
The Bearcats were buoyed by two big innings. Corey Taylor's three-run home run made it a 5-1 game in the fifth, and Binghamton scored four times on three hits after the first two batters were retired in the sixth to break the game open.
Siena had three hits in the fifth, and scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch to keep things interesting at the time, before the Bearcats big rally.
James Giulietti pitched six innings and allowed three runs to earn the win for Binghamton. Joe Swindells went the final three innings to pick up the save. Justin Brantley suffered the loss for Siena, tossing five innings, and allowing five runs, although only three were earned.
The two teams will play a doubleheader in Loudonville Sunday at 1 p.m.
