Final Stats

Box Score

The Siena baseball team is getting hot at the right time again. Freshman Ryan Metzler had three hits to lead the Saints to their fourth straight win - an 8-3 thumping of regional power Bryant on the road.

The Bulldogs (28-18) entered the game ranked third in the latest NEIBA poll, trailing only Connecticut and Rhode Island. But Siena (17-29) was in control from start to finish Tuesday.

Siena led 8-0 after scoring a run in the first, two in the second, two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and twice in the seventh. The Saints used five different pitchers, and the first four didn't allow a run. Senior Dan Pendleton, who earlier in the day was honored with the department's academic achievement award, started and got the victory, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the first.

Vincent Citro, Brian Fay and Tyler Bell joined Metzler with multi-hit games for Siena. It was the fourth straight contest the Saints' offense came through in a big way.

Citro and Fay each added two RBI as well.

Rick Morales and Matt O'Kipney followed Pendleton with scoreless innings on the mound. Jim Meindl put up zeroes in the fourth and fifth, and Chris Kearney tossed the final four innings, allowing the Bulldogs' three runs.

John Mullen, Jamie Skagerlind, Daniel St. George and Carl Anderson each had two hits for Bryant. The Bulldogs scored once in the seventh, and twice in the eighth.

Siena faces its most important series to date this weekend when it travels to face MAAC foe Rider.
