Siena Men's Cross Country was runner-up at the 18th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. The men placed four runners in the top-17 and the women's squad finished ninth overall.
"I thought after the weekend we had at Paul Short (tough conditions), we bounced back well," said head coach John Kenworthy. "We put up some good individual performances that we had been looking for."
Running partial squads, the Saints finished just behind host Westfield State in the men's 8K race, while the women finished ninth of 38 teams in the 5K run.
Senior Brendan Gregg was the top men's finisher placing 11th overall with a time of 26:45.00. He was joined near the top of the leader board by classmate Devin Bennett (15th - 26:50.73), freshman Paolo Fiore (16th - 26:52.06) and sophomore Tom Higgins (17th - 26:52.33).
Christie MacFarlane was solid once again for the women, finishing seventh overall with a time of 19:08.42. Freshman Kelly Pasko also finished in the top-50 of the 361 runner field completing the course in a time of 20:02.87 to place 41st.
The Saints return to the Capital Region for their lone local meet next weekend at 11 a.m. at the UAlbany Invitational.
