Saints Finishes 13th of 17 at Connecticut Cup

The men's golf team finished in 13th place out of 17 teams after shooting a final round of 310 in Ellington, Conn. The University of Connecticut won the Connecticut Cup, shooting a combined 872 and the Huskies' Zach Zaback finished at the top of the leaderboard, one stroke ahead of Hartford's Evan Russell.

The day after darkness forced play to be suspended, the Saints entered the final round in 11th and three strokes behind MAAC competitor Iona for tenth place.

Michael Shine was the Saints top finisher, tying for 25th after shooting 77, 77 and 75 for the Tournament. Shine led all golfers with 40 pars for the 54-hole Tournament. Scott Kim performed well for the Saints to finish four strokes behind Shine. Kim shot a 78, 76 and 79 for a combined 233 during the two-day Tournament.

Louis Walsh (81, 76, 78) played well for the Saints and finished two strokes behind Kim in the 57th position. Brendan Quintana started the day inside the top-10, but fell after shooting an 84 and 80 in the last two rounds, respectively.

The Saints completed 54-holes to finish in 13th place, 10 strokes behind MAAC member Fairfield University for tenth place.

The Saints will finish up their fall season in two weeks when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Lehigh Invitational.
