Final Stats
UCF struck for six runs in the first inning and cruised home to an 8-2 win over Siena in the rubber game of the season-opening series Sunday in Orlando. The Saints' bullpen worked 7.2 innings and allowed just two runs.
Six of the Knights' first seven batters reached base, chasing Siena starter Rick Morales from the game in the first inning. James Vasquez delivered the big hit in the inning - a two-run double with the bases loaded and one out.
Vincent Citro scored Siena's first run of the game in the third on a fielding error after reaching on a one-out double. Pinch hitter Dave Hoffman walked and scored the other tally in the ninth on a passed ball after Kyle Baldani's single moved him to third.
Danny Davis worked seven brilliant innings to pick up the win for UCF. He allowed just four hits, and one unearned run.
Carlos Cabrera relieved Morales and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings. He was followed by Dan Dopico, Kyano Cummings, Jake Werdesheim and Jim Meindl. All five relievers pitched scoreless innings.
Parker Webster's two-run single in the bottom of the eight finished off UCF's scoring.
The Saints return south next weekend for a three-game series with William and Mary in Williamsburg.
