FDU Snaps Siena's Streak

April 23, 2013

Final Stats

Bryan Goossens turned in another stellar outing on the mound, but the Siena baseball team saw its nine-game win streak snapped at Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, Tuesday. The Saints travel to play Holy Cross Wednesday, their fifth road game in four days.

Goossens went the distance for Siena, allowing six hits and just one run. He entered the game ranked third nationally in fewest walks per nine innings and didn't walk a batter.

Jordan Ritz' eighth inning sacrifice fly for the Knights was the difference in the game.

The Saints rank among the nation's leaders in double plays turned, and they had consecutive twin-killings in the fifth and sixth to get out of trouble.

Brian Fay and Mike Allen each had two hits for the Saints. Allen also drew a ninth inning walk, and advanced to second on Kyle Baldani's single before pinch hitter Nick Wolyniec struck out on a full count to end the game.

Anthony Callise relieved starter Nick Cuono in the eighth to steal the win for FDU. Eric Snyder picked up his fourth save.
