Freshman centerfielder Dan Swain homered in his first collegiate at bat to give Siena an early lead, and junior Matt Gage pitched five solid innings allowing just three earned runs, but Central Florida got into the Saints' bullpen and broke free for an 8-1 win on Opening Night Friday in Orlando.

Sam Tolleson and Erik Barber each had two hits and two RBI for the Knights, and their back-to-back knocks in the fourth gave UCF the lead for good. The Knights broke the game open with a five-run seventh.

Five different UCF players had multi-hit games, and starter Eric Skoglund earned the win with six innings of two-hit ball.

After Skoglund's night on the mound was done, junior Zach Rodgers took over and picked up where his teammate left off, giving up just one hit and no runs over two innings in his UCF debut. Rookie Vinnie Rosace made his collegiate debut and closed the door on the Saints with a scoreless ninth to end the game.

Sophomore Kyano Cummings pitched a scoreless inning and a third of relief with three strikeouts for the Saints.

The series continues tomorrow with junior Spencer Davis on the mound for the Knights. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
