Final Stats

Matt Gage gutted his way through another complete game, and Siena's offense came through with the just enough clutch hits in a 6-5 win at Marist Saturday. The second half of the doubleheader was postponed until Sunday, with an ominous forecast threatening to wash out games two and three altogether.

Gage allowed just three earned runs, scattered 10 hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter in his second complete game win in as many MAAC starts this season.

Leadoff man Vincent Citro stayed hot with a 3-for-5 day, pushing his average close to .380 for the season. He got the Saints off to a fast start with a single and a run scored in the first. Andres Ortiz and Mike Allen each had run-scoring hits in Siena's two-run first. Ortiz then doubled to lead off the third, and came around to score on Dave Hoffman's sacrifice fly.

Marist tied the game with a run in the third and two more in the fourth, the big blow coming on a leadoff home run by Nick McQuail in the fourth.

Hoffman singled and scored on Citro's flyout to put the Saints up 4-3 in the sixth, but the Red Foxes got the run back on Ben Moller's two-out RBI triple in the bottom of the frame.

After a scoreless seventh, John Rooney had an RBI single in the eighth, and Tyler Martis walked with the bases loaded in the ninth to put Siena up 6-4.

Marist rallied with two outs in the ninth, scoring a run on a fielding error before Gage got leadoff man Graham McIntire to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.

Hoffman and Martis each joined Citro with three hits for the Saints. Ortiz and Allen had two hits apiece.

Moller went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Red Foxes.

Siena improved to 4-0 in the MAAC and Marist fell to 0-4.
