The men's golf team stands in 17th place after the opening round of the 2014 Lafayette Invitational led by Michael Shine who recorded an eight-over 79 on the 6,655-yard, par-71 Championship Course at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa.
Final round action is set for Monday with split-tee starting times running from 9 until 11:30 a.m.
Longwood leads the team scoring with a 16-over 300, while Hofstra trails by just three strokes, Rider four strokes, and Canisius and Central Connecticut round out the top five just six strokes out of the lead.
Individually, Shine is currently tied for 44th place with teammate Scott Kim after shooting a first round 79.
