Final Stats
Marvin Dominique scored a season-high 26 points and Saint Peter's scored a season-high 48 points in the second half to rally past Siena 65-57 Monday night in Jersey City. Siena led 26-17 after its best defensive first half of the season.
"Dean Smith said three things: Play Hard. Play Smart. Play Together," Jimmy Patsos said. "We're playing hard and we're playing together. Playing smart we need to work on. We're really staying together. It's a work in progress. The MAAC is a grind it out, hardhat, emotional league. I thought our emotion was great in the first half. All of a sudden they're driving for layups."
Saint Peter's completed a season sweep of Siena and moved into a tie for seventh in the MAAC with the Saints. Siena lost its fifth straight game at the Yanitelli Center, missing a chance to move into a tie for fifth in the conference.
Desi Washington, who torched the Saints for 22 points in the Peacocks win at Times Union Center, scored all 13 of his points in the second half.
Siena got 14 points from Marquis Wright and 13 from Javion Ogunyemi. The Saints led for the first 30 minutes and 22 seconds of the game before Washington sunk two free throws to put the Peacocks up 42-41. Ogunyemi scored to give Siena the lead back, but Dominique made two free throws on the Peacocks' next trip and Saint Peter's never trailed again.
Dominique's tomahawk jam with 4:23 left put the Peacocks up 10 and the Saints never threatened the rest of the way.
Saint Peter's made 22-26 free throws and turned the ball over just nine times. Siena tuned the ball over 16 times and made just 2-12 three-pointers.
The Saints have lost four of five to fall five game sunder .500 for the first time this season. Siena wraps up a three-game road swing at archrival Marist Thursday night.
