Central Florida pounded out 17 hits in a 15-0 shutout of Siena Baseball in the middle game of a season-opening three game set in Orlando. UCF opened the scoring with a four-run second inning and pulled away with a five-run sixth.
Dan Swain, Brett Connors, Jordan Bishop and Tyler Martis accounted for Siena's (0-2) four hits. Senior southpaw Kyano Cummings lasted the first four innings on the mound, allowing eight hits and five earned runs. He walked two and struck out three.
Freshman Matthew Mika, who collected three hits including the walk off RBI single in UCF's come-from-behind 10-9 victory in the series opener Friday night, went 2-4 Saturday with five runs scored, three RBI and homered for the second time in as many days out of the leadoff spot. Luke Hamblin and Eli Putnam each contributed three hits apiece for the Knights.
Robby Howell pitched 5.2 shutout innings to pick up the win for UCF, scattering three hits while striking out six.
The squads wrap up the series Sunday at 1 p.m. Junior lefthander Chris Amorosi is scheduled to make the start for the Saints and is expected to be opposed by UCF righthander Nick McCoy.
