Innings of five and six runs scored helped Stetson complete a mini series sweep of Siena on Wednesday night by a final of 13-6. Dan Swain accounted for two runs to lead the Saints which included his second home run in as many days. He recorded two hits as that total was tied for the team high in the game. Joe Drpich and Jordan Bishop tallied two hits each as well.
Siena jumped on the scoreboard in the second inning on an RBI single through the left side by Dan Vasquez. The Saints extended their lead to two in the next inning on Swain's solo home run.
Stetson broke the game open in the fifth and six innings when they scored five and six runs, respectively.
Following the big innings by the Hatters, Siena scored two runs to close the gap. Drpich registered a single to the shortstop Matt Morales and after a throwing error by Morales, Swain and Max Goione scored to make the score 11-2.
Freshman Dylan D'Anna was credited with the loss, throwing five innings allowing five runs on eight hits. He also walked one and recorded three strikeouts.
Stetson added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead.
The Saints tallied one more run in the top of the ninth on Alex Tuccio's single down the right field line and the hit scored Brian Kelly.
Siena returns to the diamond Friday when the team travels to Charleston, S.C. to play the first of a three game set with The Citadel. The game is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
