The Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a win over Siena baseball by a final of 3-2. The Citadel tallied all three runs in the final two innings.
Phil Madonna led all Siena players with two hits. Kyano Cummings threw seven innings of shutout ball, allowing three hits while walking five and striking out five.
The Saints built an early two run advantage in the second inning on Dan Swain's two RBI single to left. The base hit drove in Brett Connors and Phil Madonna for Swain's team leading fourth and fifth RBI's of the season.
The game remained in the Saints' favor until momentum swung in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings. Drew Ellis flew out to right field. The sacrifice fly drove in Mike Deese to cut the margin to one.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jacob Watcher singled to right and advanced to second on a throwing error by the right fielder. Phillip Watcher advanced to third and would eventually score on the throwing error.
Jason Smith came to the plate and recorded an RBI single down the right field line that scored Watcher to give the Bulldogs the win.
Siena will look to avoid the sweep when they conclude their three-game set with The Citadel Sunday at 1 p.m.
