Siena baseball dropped its eighth straight decision Sunday falling by a final of 6-4 to The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to gain the late inning advantage. Dan Swain, Joe Drpich and Brian Kelly finished with two hits apiece to lead the team.

Tom O'Brien got the start on the hill Sunday going three innings while allowing one run on three hits, facing 12 batters. Chris Amorosi entered the game and went four innings tallying two runs on two hits while striking out five and walking four.

The Bulldogs struck first on double to right center. The two-bagger drove in Jason Smith to give the Citadel the early 1-0 lead.

The Saints scored the equalizer in the third on a single through the right side by Kelly. The base knock scored Swain to knot the game at one.

Siena would then jump into the lead in the fifth and sixth after Swain scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch and then padded their lead when Tyler Martis singled through the left side. The hit scored Dan Lowndes and gave the Saints a three run lead.

The bottom of the eighth was the difference in the game as the Citadel scored five runs to reclaim the lead, 6-3.

The comeback bid came up just short for Siena after the Saints could only claim one run in the ninth on Drpich's double to right center in which Swain scored once again to trim the margin to two.

Kyle Smith claimed the win in this one with only one inning of work while striking out two Siena players. The Saints will look to snap their losing streak when they continue their road trip to Kentucky to square off with Morehead State for a three game set starting on March 5th.
