LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Jordan Bishop and Jordan Folgers both homered and five hurlers combined for a solid performance on the mound as Siena Baseball defeated Fordham 4-2 in the Bronx. Bishop finished with a pair of hits and three RBI to lead the Saints past the winningest program in NCAA history.
After Fordham (17-17) opened the scoring with a run in the third, Siena (10-20) knotted the tally in the fifth on an RBI single by Bishop. Folgers then put the Saints in front for good with a solo blast over the leftfield wall in the top of the sixth inning.
Bishop added a pair of key insurance runs in the seventh, with his two-run shot to right plating Max Goione. Siena tallied six of their nine hits over their three-inning scoring stretch spanning the fifth through seventh innings.
The Rams responded with a run in the bottom of the ninth and had runners on the corners with one out, but Chris Amorosi recorded a strikeout and induced a groundout to seal the win. Amorosi tossed the final three innings in relief to record his first collegiate save.
The Saints return to action Saturday when they head to the Jersey Shore to battle current MAAC frontrunner Monmouth in conference doubleheader action beginning at noon. Both ends of the twin bill will be broadcast on ESPN3.
