April 2, 2016 Box Score
Canisius scored five runs in the second inning and added six insurance scores in the eighth to defeat Siena Baseball 16-4 in the series finale in Buffalo. Jordan Bishop and Alex Tuccio recorded two hits apiece for Siena which, despite the defeat, took two of the three over the weekend on the road to capture the series from the defending MAAC Champions.
Cleanup hitter Ryan Stekl recorded three hits including a home run and a bases-clearing double and drove in seven runs to lead the Canisius (12-15, 4-2) attack. Stekl was one of six batters to record multiple hits for the Golden Griffins which pounded out 15 in all.
Bishop finished the series with multiple hits in all three games for Siena (7-18, 3-3), while Tuccio reached base safely in all four plate appearances on the afternoon.
Canisius jumped in front early, building a 7-1 lead through the first two innings. Siena responded with three runs to halve the deficit in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double by Fred Smart.
But the Golden Griffins got all three runs back in the home half of the fifth to build their lead back to six and cruised from there to salvage the series by capturing the finale.
The Saints return to action when they make the short drive to UMass for a Tuesday tilt at 3 p.m.
