Dartmouth scored three times in the home half of the third en route to defeating Siena Baseball 5-3 in a midweek battle in Hanover, N.H. Jordan Bishop, Fred Smart and Dan Swain each drove home runs for the Saints.
Siena (13-26) scored single runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings. Smart staked the Saints to an early advantage with an RBI double in the opening frame, but Dartmouth (15-23) responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a lead which they would not relinquish.
Joe Purritano and Thomas Roulis each produced run-scoring hits in the decisive inning for the Big Green. Siena twice rallied within a run, but on each occasion Dartmouth responded with an insurance score to fend off the Saints.
Siena will look to bounce back when it returns to the diamond this weekend for a three-game conference set at Rider. The series commences with doubleheader action Saturday beginning at noon.
