May 13, 2016 Box Score
Travis Mistretta's two-run home run in the fifth proved to be the difference as Iona salvaged the series by taking the finale from Siena Baseball 3-2 in New Rochelle. Jordan Folgers led the way offensively with three hits for the Saints, which still ended up taking two of three to win their sixth straight conference series.
Iona (10-36, 4-17) opened the scoring by scratching across a run in the fourth and extended their lead to three on Mistretta's blast in the following frame.
Siena (20-29, 13-8) finally broke through with a pair of runs to rally within 3-2 in the eighth, on back-to-back RBI singles from Folgers and Ryne Martinez. But that would be all the offense that the Saints would be able to muster against Gaels' starter Joe DeRosa who went eight strong innings allowing just the two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out six as Iona snapped an eight-game losing streak in the series.
Chris Amorosi tossed six solid innings, scattering six hits and three runs while walking two and striking out four for Siena. Bryan Goossens added a pair of scoreless, hitless innings with three strikeouts out of the bullpen for the Saints which saw their season long four-game winning streak snapped.
Siena heads to UMass Lowell for its final non-conference game Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Saints then return to Loudonville to close out the regular season against rival Marist Thursday and Friday.
