FISHKILL, N.Y. â€" Fairfield scored a MAAC Championship Game record 18 runs as the top seeded Stags defeated No. 2 seed Siena Baseball 18-2 at Dutchess Stadium. Fairfield tallied runs in six of the first seven innings including five multiple run frames en route to capturing the program's first MAAC Tournament Championship.

MAAC Tournament MVP Jake Salpietro fueled Fairfield's (32-24) 19-hit barrage going 3-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, while fellow All-Tournament Team selection Kevin Radziewicz added four hits and drove in five runs. Drew Arciuolo, Michael Conti and Jack Gethings rounded out the Stags' All-Tournament Team selections.

Jordan Bishop delivered an RBI single in the third and Tyler Martis contributed a sacrifice fly in the fifth to account for the Siena (25-32) scoring. But it wasn't enough to overcome a potent Fairfield offense which saw all nine batters record hits and eight of the nine score runs, while freshman John Signore did the rest on the mound in hurling seven effective innings.

Chris Amorosi, Bryan Goossens and Phil Madonna were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team for the Saints which were making the program's fourth straight MAAC Championship Game appearance, fifth in the past six seasons and 10th overall in 13 trips to the tournament. Amorosi tossed 7.2 shutout innings to earn the win against Canisius Friday night, while Goossens saved both of Siena's elimination game victories. Madonna paced the Saints at the plate, going 7-15 for the tournament.

Siena finishes a successful 2016 season which saw the program eclipse 20 victories and post a winning conference record for the fourth consecutive year. While the Saints do say goodbye to a decorated Senior Class which played in the MAAC Championship Series in each of their four years while winning both a conference title and an NCAA Tournament game as sophomores, Siena does return a strong nucleus as they chase championship number six in 2017.
