July 19, 2016 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena women's lacrosse senior Briana Sirianni and recent graduate Sarah Croutier played with team USAAI (USA Athletes International). This was a 10-day trip that included games and sight-seeing.
The USAAI is an organization that provides student athletes with a chance to play international sports along with an educational experience of traveling abroad. Sirianni played on the women's lacrosse team that consisted of 14 Division I and Division III players as well as two coaches.
First, they traveled to Berlin, Germany where they enjoyed the sights of the city before they played a friendly against a local club team. The team was able to have the opportunity to speak with the club team members after the game and learn more about them and their culture.
The next stop was Prague, Czech Republic where they participated in the Prague Cup. They played a total of five games against teams from the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany and another team from the United States.
"Unfortunately, we did not win the tournament, but we all had so much fun and it was an experience of a lifetime," Sirianni said. "We not only experienced playing international lacrosse (including their rules) but we also had the chance to explore the cities of Prague and Berlin."
The team went on a few guided tours including one at the Terezin concentration camp in the Czech Republic and one at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. They also saw famous landmarks including the Berlin Wall and the Charles Bridge.
In the 2016 season, Sirianni played and started in all 17 games for the Saints. She scored 15 goals, including one game-winner. Her .812 shots on goal percentage were third best on the squad. Sirianni will return to the Saints where the 2016 team set a program record averaging 12.1 goals per game this spring and which tied the 2015 year's single-season record of 206 goals scored.
Croutier played four seasons with the Saints and picked up 178 points over the course of her career (119 goals and 59 assists). She finished the 2016 season with a .950 shot on goal percentage. Croutier was the leading scorer for the Saints in the 2016 season as she scored 47 goals.
