Feb. 21, 2017

Box Score

Andrew MacNeil drove in four runs, Jacob Koos added three hits, and Chris Tidwell scored three times as balanced Stetson shut out Siena Baseball 9-0 in the series opener in DeLand, Florida. Senior centerfielder Dan Swain recorded three of the Saints' six hits.

Stetson (1-3) harbored a 3-0 lead through five, but tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth and added four more scores in the seventh to cruise to victory. The Hatters batted around in their big seventh inning, with MacNeil delivering the big blow with a two-run single.

Siena (0-4) had its best chance to score in the sixth. The Saints put the first two men on and sacrificed them both into scoring position with one out, but couldn't cash in.

Ryan Stark scattered six hits over 7.1 scoreless innings with no walks and five strikeouts to record the win for Stetson. John Nolan (three innings), Domenic Nardone (three innings) and Danny Hobbs (two innings) all saw action on the mound for Siena.

The teams wrap up their two-game midweek set Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Melching Field
