Kibet & Sericolo Highlight UAlbany Spring Classic

ALBANY, NY - Siena used the UAlbany Spring Classic as a strong stepping stone before the MAAC Championship. The Saints finished with 10 runners in the Top-10, including two first place finishes.

Right at the first gun the Saints would get off strong. In the 3000m, Serena Rizzo took seventh overall with a time of 18:41.19. That time is best for 10th on the Siena Outdoor List. Freshman Sydney Johnson was not too far behind as she finished in a season best time of 18:52.66 for 10th overall. Ursula Svoboda recorded a personal record of her own with a 13th place finish time of 19:07.01.

When it turned to the men to toe the line, the Saints were off running. Jack O'Hara took ninth overall in a very tightly contested 3000m run with a personal record of 15:32.42. Michael Rautter pushed hard and finished 13th overall in 15:53.16.

In a 1500m, Carolyn Pellegrini was the first Saint to cross the finish line in 5:02.89. Annica Penn set a personal best time of 5:04.55 in the race. Anya Schmitt (5:28.69) and Agnes Eigo (5:15.53) both set personal records in the race, while Kelly Russo (5:24.65) ran her best race of the season.

Paolo Fiore took 11th overall with a season best 4:05.39 finish in the 1500m. Michael Stoker who ran in 4:11.96, would land himself in 22nd place overall. Adam Vaccaro (4:19.95), Matt Jacques (4:23.03) and Michael Carroll (4:25.67) all set personal best times in the 1500m.

Abbi Wright was the sole Saint in the 800m on the women's side. She would finish in 2:34.29 in the race.

On the men's side, Evans Kibet won the 800m with a time of 1:55.10. Ittai Rosales would finish in a respective time of 2:03.63, while Grant Norton finished in 2:08.66.

Sydney Sericolo won the 3000m run and used that not just set a personal record, but she now sits with the fourth best 3000m time in Siena history along with second fastest in outdoor. Sericolo finished the race in 10:22.79. She would be followed by Camryn Johnson who finished in seventh overall in 11:02.44.

In the final event of the day for Siena, all four Saints in the 3000m steeplechase took spots in the top-10. William Randall took third place with a 9:55.30 finish. Shane Fiust-Klink set a personal record 9:58.92 finish for a fifth place finish. Bryant Hatala and Devin Laudenschlager, who took on the race for the first time at Siena took eighth and ninth overall with respective times of 10:06.65 and 10:20.67.

The Saints will head to Lawrenceville, New Jersey for the MAAC Championship hosted by Rider on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7.
