Siena (7-7-3, 4-2-2) will celebrate its six-member senior class of
Gabby Albano,
Amanda Holtzman,
Lindsay Mulligan,
Kamryn Peffley,
Meghan Riccardi, and
Olivia Stegner in a special pre-match ceremony at approximately 12:40 p.m. To date, the sextet has been a part of 39 wins and three MAAC Tournament appearances, highlighted by the program's second and most recent MAAC Championship when the group were freshmen in 2015.
The senior class can take a big step towards book ending their careers with MAAC Championships with a positive result today. The Saints would clinch the program's sixth consecutive MAAC Tournament appearance outright with either a win or tie this afternoon, or with a Fairfield loss or tie at Niagara (12 p.m.). Siena enters play tied for third in the MAAC Standings with Niagara with 14 points, although the Saints have two league matches remaining while the Purple Eagles have just one. Siena concludes regular season action Wednesday at Canisius.
The Saints are looking to bounce back after their four-match winning streak was halted with a 2-0 loss Wednesday night at Marist. Prior to the Red Foxes scoring twice in the final 6:28, both Siena and junior goalkeeper
Taylor Dorado established new team and individual program shutout streak records of 513:27. The defense and Dorado broke the previous program and individual shutout streaks of 504:23 by more than nine minutes, which were set by the 2015 MAAC Championship squad and Liz Rogan. Prior to Marist's two late goals, the Saints had allowed just one goal total spanning their first 754 minutes of conference action. Dorado is currently tied for the MAAC lead and stands tied for eighth overall nationally with 93 saves, and ranks 25th nationally with an .861 save percentage.
Manhattan (3-7-3, 2-4-2) meanwhile is in desperate need of a win this afternoon to keep their dwindling MAAC Tournament hopes alive. The Jaspers dropped tough 1-0 setbacks against league contenders Rider and Marist, before securing a tie last time out against Iona.
Siena and Manhattan meet for the 30th time, with the Saints holding a commanding 18-7-4 advantage. However, the programs have split the past seven meetings, 3-3-1.
