Isaac Campbell pitched six shutout innings and Chandler Redmond drove in three runs to lead Gardner-Webb past Siena Baseball 6-1 in the series opener at John H. Moss Stadium in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Sophomore leftfielder Jonathan Crimmin reached base safely three times highlighted by a pair of doubles for the Saints.

Gardner-Webb (4-1) scored single runs in both the first and second innings, before breaking the game open with a decisive three-run fifth. Redmond delivered the big blow in the inning with a two-run double.

Siena (0-4) capped the scoring with its lone run in the seventh. Crimmin led off the inning with a double, and was singled home by senior pinch hitter Dan Lowndes. The Saints threatened to mount an even bigger rally late, but stranded two men on base apiece to end the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Campbell scattered six hits while walking just one and striking out six to earn the win for the Runnin' Bulldogs, while Mickey Dugan added three hits and scored a pair of runs.

Senior first baseman Joe Drpich recorded his third straight two-hit performance for Siena. Sophomore hurler Brendan White pitched the first 5.2 innings, while junior righthander Tom Sutera tossed 2.1 hitless innings to close it out.

The teams return to action for the middle two games of the four-game series Friday at 3 and 6 p.m.
