LOUDONVILLE, NY – Eight different Manhattan batters recorded hits as the Jaspers captured the rubber game to take the series from Siena Baseball with an 8-3 victory in the finale. Zach Durfee paced the Saints with a pair of hits including an RBI double and also scored a run.
Manhattan (16-13, 5-1) scored three times apiece in both the second and fourth innings, before pulling away with a two-run seventh. Fabian Pena led a balanced offense attack with three hits for the Jaspers.
Brendan Bisset keyed a three-run second with a two-run double to open the scoring for Manhattan. Siena (5-22, 5-4) got a run back in the home half of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Phil Madonna to plate Durfee, but the Jaspers responded with three more runs in the fourth to open a commanding 6-1 advantage.
The Saints capped the scoring with a pair of runs in the eighth on RBI hits by Jordan Bishop and Durfee. Siena worked six walks, but stranded nine runners in the defeat.
The Saints begin a 10-game road trip Wednesday with a pair of seven-inning non-conference contests at Fordham starting at 3 p.m.
