Siena Men's Golf improved its Final Round score by 12 strokes to finish ninth overall at Dartmouth's Quechee Club Intercollegiate in Quechee, Vermont. Freshman
Jared Nelson continued his strong start to his freshman season by firing a Final Round score of 70 to finish seventh overall.
Bucknell shot 281 to leapfrog five teams on the final day and capture the team championship. Ivy League schools Cornell and Princeton tied for second in the 36-hole event, finishing five shots off the pace.
Siena shot the sixth best score in the 12-team field Sunday with a 296. The Saints finished 21 shots back of the Bison, albeit just five strokes out of fifth in the tightly bunched field.
Bucknell's Connor O'Brien and Chris Tanabe each shot Final Round scores of 69 to finish in a four-way tie for first with Drexel's Connor Schmidt and Brown's Drew Powell. Powell birdied the first playoff hole to capture medalist honors.
Nelson finished five strokes off the pace for the weekend with a two-round score of 145 (75-70). Nelson tied for third in the event with eight total birdies, to move up nine spots on the overall leaderboard Sunday. Classmate
Brad Whitaker fired a 74 in the Final Round and finished tied for second in the field with 26 pars on the weekend.
The Saints return to the course Sunday for the start of Binghamton's two-day Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational in Vestal, New York.
