Georgia Vargas tallied seven goals as Siena Water Polo split a pair of contests to complete play at the Bison Invitational in Lewisburg, PA Sunday. The Saints (2-6) fell to No. 17 Harvard, 16-8, in their morning contest and rounded out the day with a 12-10 victory over Gannon.
The Green and Gold were stifled out the of the gate by the Crimson in a rematch from last week's dual between the two squads at the Bruno Invitational in Providence, RI. Having moved up one spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-25 from the previous head-to-head match, Harvard held a 9-4 advantage heading into the half and never looked back. Five different Saints found the back of the net to start the day, with Vargas and Preseason All-MAAC honorees
Diana Fernandez and
Sophia Torres each scoring twice.
The team rebounded well of the defeat later in the afternoon to improve to 14-4 all-time against the Knights in a series that began in 2007. Vargas scored twice in each of the first two periods, guiding the squad to a 7-5 lead at the halfway point. The Whittier, CA native added a point in the second half for the Saints, who maintained a lead throughout the duration of the match. Senior

Bianca Prinsloo also contributed to the team's second win of the season.
 Following the completion of two straight weekends of action, Siena will enter a brief hiatus before returning to the pool on Sunday, Feb. 24 for a three-match affair at the Red Fox Invitational in Poughkeepsie, NY.
