Boston College Edges Siena Baseball

Saints Tie Season-High With 13 Hits

ACC foe Boston College scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Eagles edged Siena Baseball 7-5 in mid-week non-conference action in Brighton, Massachusetts. All 10 batters who saw action recorded hits for the Saints, which tied a season-high with 13 hits.

Gian Martellini recorded three hits and Cody Morissette scored three times to lead Boston College (11-9). Morissette drove in the game-winning run in the home half of the seventh, and was chased home himself for an insurance run on a single by Martellini.

Tim Carroll, Devan Kruzinski, and Nico Ramos all registered two hits apiece to pace Siena (4-12). The teams combined for 27 hits, albeit all of which were singles.

Alex Milone opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first for the Saints, but Boston College scored three times in the second to claim the lead. The teams mimicked each other offensively the rest of the way, with each side adding single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and a pair of runs apiece in the decisive seventh.

Carroll delivered a clutch two-run single in the top of the seventh to draw Siena even, but Morissette and Martellini responded in the next half inning for the decisive scores.

Eight different Siena hurlers logged an inning of work apiece as part of a staff day, with Ben Seiler, James Flood, Tim Zehnbauer, and John Nolan each notching scoreless frames.

Siena embarks upon its milestone 30th season of MAAC competition when the Saints open a three-game series at defending champion Canisius Saturday with doubleheader action beginning at 2:30 p.m.
