Sophomore Sophia Torres notched a pair of hat tricks as Siena Water Polo closed out weekend play in Staten Island, New York with a pair of losses Sunday. The Saints fell, 21-8, to No. 15 Wagner before dropping a 15-8 decision to No. 20 Marist.

Taking the pool after getting swept to begin its second conference weekend of the 2019 season, Siena (7-15, 0-7) went down early to the Seahawks, who led 4-1 after the first period and 11-3 at the half. The Saints pulled together in the third quarter to score four and trail by seven, but Wagner cemented the victory with seven goals in the final stanza. Torres and sophomore Kristen Burger notched hat tricks in the loss, while freshman Bianca Prinsloo scored twice and senior Nichol Feldtz made five saves in between the pipes.

The Green and Gold returned to the Spiro Sports Center Natatorium later in the afternoon against their full-time MAAC rivals in the Red Foxes, trailing by just a goal after the first and second quarters and matching Marist in scoring in the latter. The No. 20 team in the nation according to the Collegiate Water Polo Association broke away to begin the second half, embarking on a 6-0 run in the third quarter to take the win. Torres joined five other Saints in recording a goal in the contest, with Prinsloo recording a pair of assists to finish with three points and Feldtz adding five more saves.

Looking to bounce off a winless weekend, Siena will now take a break from conference action, competing on the west coast for the second time this season. The Saints will head to Arizona for the first time in program history to compete in the Sun Devil Invitational next weekend, taking on heavyweights San Jose State, San Diego State and Arizona State.
