Beginning the final weekend of the 2019 regular season, Siena Water Polo stumbled against a pair of ranked conference foes in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Saturday. The Saints fell to #22 Marist, 12-6, before dropping a 23-8 decision to #18 Wagner later in the day.
Â
Spreading scoring out between all four quarters, Siena (8-22, 1-11) held just a 4-2 deficit at the half against Marist before the Red Foxes began the second half with a six-goal period. Sophomore
Anna Borton was the team's lone multi-goal scorer of the affair, while junior
Diana Fernandez, seniors
Sara Lopez &
Daniella Fuertes and freshman
Bianca Prinsloo also chipped in scores. Senior goalkeeper
Kennedy Joseph spent the entirety of the affair in-goal, notching nine saves in the process.
Â
The Saints capped off their day at La Salle's Kirk Pool with a matchup against a ranked foe for 11th time this season, the most faced in a campaign in program history. The Green and Gold netted a pair of goals in the first quarter against the #18 ranked Seahawks, with Fuertes and sophomore
Kristen Burger finding the back of the net. Despite the team letting up nine goals in the second quarter and another eight in the final half of play, five saints got on the board, with Burger leading the way in the form of a hat trick and Fernandez notching a pair of scores. Joseph split time with senior new-minder
Nichol Feldtz in the loss, with the pair garnering five and four saves each, respectively.
Â
Following the action Siena will travel across town to Villanova, PA to cap its regular season with two final MAAC matches Sunday. The Saints will take on St. Francis (NY) at 10:30 AM before dueling with La Salle at 3 PM.
