Forman Announced as Siena’s Nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year

Saints’ Female Athlete of the Year Up For Major Award

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Recent graduate Sarah Forman has been named Siena's nominee for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year award. Forman will go up against a record 585 female student-athletes, with 262 coming from the Division I level. The NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

Forman put up an incredible senior season, especially in the classroom finishing her career at Siena with a 3.94 GPA, most recently being named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team. The psychology major was also impressive in competition, setting seven school records in indoor/outdoor track alone in 2018-19. She won the MAAC 3K championship in Indoor Track & Field, pulling in the third MAAC championship in her career. An All-MAAC and All-ECAC selection this season, she also scored at both MAAC and ECAC Championships this season, putting her in first place all-time as the top scoring runner in school history.

The Altamont, New York native ran the fastest 5k time in school history, and second fastest 6K Cross Country time in program history this season, while putting up qualifying times for ECAC/IC4A Championships in two indoor events and two outdoor events. She finished with the second highest finish in an NCAA Cross Country Regional this season, finishing 82nd behind her own finish of 67th in 2017. Most notably, she finished top 10 in six of eight cross country meets this season (including championships), which included two top 2 finishes.

From here, Forman will be put into a pool of athletes from the MAAC as conferences will select up to two nominees each from the pool of school nominees. Then, the Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division.

The selection committee will determine the top three honorees from each division from the Top 30 and announce the nine finalists in September. From those nine finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then will choose the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year.

The Top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year will be named at the annual award ceremony Oct. 20 in Indianapolis.
