Junior
Colin Brunelle produced the second fastest indoor time in program history for the 5,000-meter event at the MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships and the Siena Track Team had four other qualifiers on day one of the at the Nike Armory in New York City, NY on Saturday.
Brunelle, the native of West Sand Lake, NY, came through with a personal record with a time of 14:28.63 and it was the fifth fastest overall time of any Siena runner in a 5K event.
Brunelle's previous best time as 14:35.01 at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 31.
Other top finishers in the event for Siena included
Max Decker (15:05.23),
Jake Passalugo (15:23.88),
Michael Ryan (15:42.20) and
Brody Santagata (15:53.96).
The Siena Men's team thrived in the one-mile, gaining three competitors who qualified into Sunday's final including
Tyler Greene (4:22.62) who finished third overall,
Evan Wattie (4:21.54) and
Marcus Homa (4:24.83). Others who ran were
Cormac Leahy (4:29.81) and
Connor Thomas (4:33.25).
Senior
Mattingly O'Rourke ran a 2:14.96 to qualify for the women's 800-meter final. Other Saints who raced in the preliminaries included
Avery Kozerski (2:22.08),
Katie Hayes (2:27.94),
Brooke Gabriel (2:33.69) and
Elizabeth Coyne (2:47.71).
In the women's one-mile,
Julianna Tourangeau ran the fastest time among the Saints in 5:18.34 followed by
Summer Reinoehl (5:21.67),
Maris Potter (5:36.54),
Izzy McNamee (5:37.79) and
Chloe Poulos (5:38.27).
Tyler Tkaczyk led Siena to run the men's 800-meter in 1:57.07 followed by
Ralston Frattarola (2:00.68),
PJ Dauer (2:05.83) and
Ean Piaschyk (2:09.68).
In the women's 400-meter prelims,
Sara Fitzgerald finished in 1:02.35 while
Delaney Spalthoff came in at 1:03.34 and
Avery Harrington closed in 1:14.62.
In the women's 5K,
Olivia Schaffer clocked in at 19:35.16 and
Olivia Armenia finished in 20:05.02.
Chris Murphy was the lone Saint to compete in the men's 400-meter with a time of 55.83.
The Siena Men's team of Cayward, Frattarola,
Tyler Tkaczyk and
Austin Ferrin did not finish in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay.
In the women's 4,000-meter DMR, the team of
Taylor Syvertsen,
Sara Fitzgerald,
Julianna Tourangeau and
Faith Skowvron crossed in 12:58.45.
