CAMBRIDGE, MA– Siena Water Polo (7-6) capped off a 2-1 weekend at the Harvard Invite in Boston, Massachusetts with its most prolific offensive performance in program history. The Saints crushed Connecticut College, 27-5, to record a new high mark in goals & margin of victory.
The Saints took a 7-3 lead into the second quarter and turned it into 13-5 at the half without looking back. Siena went on to out-score the Camels, 13-0 in the second half of play, with every member of the team in the field scoring at least once and five players recording hat tricks.
Sophomore Bianca Prinsloo capped off an impressive weekend with seven goals, while freshman Danni Croteau had five. Junior Anna Borton and sophomore Georgia Vargas also added hat tricks with three goals apiece, while freshman Maggie Verduijn scored her first career goals en-route to a hat trick as well.
Senior Diana Fernandez and junior Kristen Burger scored twice each, while freshmen Grace Boeve & Lily Graham added one goal apiece. The Saints smashed its previous goals record of 19 two different times in a game, while besting an 18-goal win margin, which game in a 19-1 victory over Utica back on March 23, 2007. The team's 25 goals stands as tied for the most goals scored in a game across the country so far this season.
Following the win, Siena concludes non-conference play at 7-6, marking the first time since 2007 that they have gone over the .500 mark entering MAAC competition. The Saints will meet its first conference opponent in the form of Villanova on March 21 at 5:00 PM.
