Men's Lacrosse Junior Shares Life Lessons, Salutes Senior Class

3... 2... FAM1LY

Twelve years ago I started playing lacrosse. It became one of the most important parts of my life, and something that has shaped me into the person that I am today. When I was younger, I always had the goal in mind that I wanted to go somewhere and play at the Division I level. After endless recruiting tournaments and hours put in on and off the field, it finally became a reality for me.

I could talk forever about the work I've put in, but the game means so much more to me than just the sport itself. Lacrosse has taught me life lessons and has brought me relationships with lifelong friends that I wouldn't trade for the world. Some things are just quite different when you're playing on the field at 6 a.m. in the dead cold of winter with other guys that all have the same goal in mind. It's those moments that challenge you beyond belief, and create a bond with your teammates.

Two things I value most that lacrosse has taught me is how to stay positive and handle adversity during tough times. With the season being cut short, it devastated not only us but athletes from all across the country. Obviously, this is something completely out of our control, but what we do now is.

During these times, it's most important to stay connected with your teammates. Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. Challenge each other and use the situation we are all dealing with to fuel yourselves. Like I said, adversity hits every athlete on a daily basis, but how you handle it is what will make you a better player.

While we're all stuck at home it's important to set daily goals with your teammates so you can all hold each other accountable and even stay connected. Use this time as an opportunity to strengthen your weaknesses and focus on personal and mental goals, it'll only benefit you when we all get back to school.

To the seniors, thank you for teaching me the ropes of how to be a Saint. You have all inspired me to be a great player and an even better person. Our team has unfinished business to do, and it's time for us to put in the work not only for us but for you guys as well! Love you guys.
