Softball Tabs Six to MAAC All-Academic Team

The Group Included All Five Seniors and One Junior from This Year’s Squad

EDISON, NJ – Six upperclassmen on the Siena Softball team were named to the 2020 MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference announced Wednesday morning.   

The group included all five seniors and one junior, with the six Saints selected as part of 96 total student athletes across the conference's 11 institutions.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.

Graduating seniors Amanda Dodson, Patricia Kalesse, Maddie McMahon, Kelly Rasulo and Lauren Sabihon each earned the honor for the third time in their collegiate careers, while junior Isabelle DeChiaro took home All-Academic Team honors for the second year.

Dodson holds a 3.65 cumulative GPA and will graduate with an accounting degree. She has been on the Dean's List in past semesters, earned NFCA Scholar All-America honors and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2019.

A graduating psychology major, Kalesse owns a 3.48 cumulative GPA and has also been placed on the NFCA Scholar All-America Team and the MAAC Academic Honor Roll in past years.

A co-captain and member of Siena's Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), McMahon holds a 3.77 cumulative mark as a marketing major and has also been on previous NFCA Scholar All-America and MAAC Academic Honor Roll squads.

Rasulo also holds a 3.77 cumulative mark and will graduate with a degree in accounting. She has also earned NFCA Scholar All-America and MAAC Academic Honor Roll accolades.

A member of Siena's SAAC group and the team's Senior CLASS Award nominee for this past season, Sabihon owns a 3.84 mark in psychology and was a part of Siena's 4.0 Club for a perfect mark achieved during the Fall 2019 semester. She has also been on previous NFCA Scholar All-America and MAAC Academic Honor Roll squads and was selected as an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar in 2019.

A co-captain and part of Siena's Student Athlete Mentors (SAM) group, DeChiaro holds a 3.61 cumulative GPA in the field of social work and has also been named to an NFCA Scholar All-American, as well as on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
