LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Women's Soccer looks to wrap up its season-long three-match homestand and close out its regular season slate at Hickey Field on a high note when the Saints host Manhattan Wednesday at 3 p.m. Siena enters the stretch run of the regular season in a three-way tie for second place in the MAAC Standings with just three matches remaining.
Siena (7-7-1, 5-2) enters Wednesday's pivotal match in search of a key three points before heading out on the road for a pair of contests to close out the regular season. Entering play Wednesday, Monmouth sits atop the conference table with 19 points, with the Saints, Quinnipiac and Niagara all level at 15 points apiece. The Bobcats, whom the Saints hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over following Saturday's 1-0 Senior Day win in Loudonville, host Iona (2:30 p.m.), while the Purple Eagles travel to Canisius for the annual "Battle of the Bridge" at 7 p.m.
Winners of four of their last five, Siena hosts a Manhattan (7-5, 3-4) squad looking to build off a 1-0 victory at Saint Peter's Saturday which snapped a three-match losing streak. Contrary to the Saints, the Jaspers have lost four of their last six while scoring just three total goals during that time. Immediately preceding those recent struggles, Manhattan had won five straight while scoring multiple goals in each of their victories. The Jaspers have enjoyed success on the road this season where they boast a stellar 5-1 record, as opposed to just a 2-4 mark in Riverdale.
Siena holds a decisive 19-7-5 all-time record vs. Manhattan, including an eight-match unbeaten streak in Loudonville (7-0-1) during which time the Saints have outscored the Jaspers by a commanding 22-5 margin. Manhattan has not won in the Capital Region in 20 years, dating back to a 3-0 victory on Sept. 9, 2001. The programs tied their most recent meeting 1-1 on Oct. 19, 2019 in Riverdale. The teams traded scores just 69 seconds apart in the 80th and 81st minutes, respectively, with then-sophomore
Carrie Krohn netting the equalizer for Siena in a wide-open affair which featured 38 combined shots - including 18 on target - and 16 corners.
