LOUDONVILLE, NY – Fresh off a program-record tying achievement, Siena Women's Soccer junior goalkeeper Cate Burns has been lauded by the Metro Conference. The Spencerport, New York standout has been proclaimed the Metro Defensive Player of the Week after matching a program benchmark with her fourth consecutive shutout.
 
Burns, who earns her fourth career conference Defensive Player of the Week award, equaled an individual program record by posting her fourth consecutive shutout as Siena battled reigning America East Regular Season Champion Binghamton to a scoreless draw Thursday night in the Southern Tier in the Saints lone action last week. She was credited with four saves and successfully quarterbacked the thwarting of 12 corners to preserve the stalemate against a potent Bearcats offense which had totaled nine goals in winning each of its first three matches. 
 
Burns, who has not bequeathed a score spanning her last 360 minutes in goal, ranks tied for second nationally with her four clean sheets. The junior currently stands first all-time in Siena Women's Soccer history in goals against average (0.78) through her first 43 collegiate matches, and ranks second in save percentage (.835) and tied for second in shutouts (19).
 
Burns and the Saints return to action when they conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule at Le Moyne Wednesday at 4 p.m.
