LOUDONVILLE, NY – After playing the current MAAC leader to a scoreless draw Saturday, Siena Men's Soccer (6-6-2, 2-3-2) will look to continue success at home Wednesday afternoon. The Saints will welcome Canisius (1-11-2, 1-6) to Hickey Field at 2 PM, with the match broadcast live on Siena All-Access.
The Saints sent off its four-man senior class with their third draw of the season during their last time out, playing Marist to a scoreless tie at home on Saturday to secure a hard-earned conference point. Senior goalkeeper
Greg Monroe tied a career high with 11 saves en-route to the team's fourth shutout of the year. Siena now holds a 4-1-2 mark at home with a five-match unbeaten streak at Hickey Field, with all matches in Loudonville this season thus far decided by a goal or less.
With three regular season dates remaining on the schedule, Siena will continue its push for what would be its second consecutive berth in the MAAC Tournament under second year head coach
Graciano Brito. The Green and Gold currently sit in ninth place in the MAAC with eight points, with the top-8 teams in the league standings advancing to the quarterfinal round. The Saints are in the midst of facing three of the current top-5 teams in the league during its final regular season ventures (Marist, Monmouth, Rider).
The team boasts 15 different point scorers on the year, with sophomore
Jacob Sandun Arachchige-Jensen's 11 points leading the pack by way of three goals and five assists. Sophomore
Bilal Hersi leads the squad with four goals, while fifth year
Jacob Pacheco, Hellert, and freshmen
Frederic Storodegard,
Thomas Storodegard, and
Zach Gardner have each scored twice. Monroe ranks second in program history in both matches played and minutes among goalkeepers, fourth in saves, and tied for fourth in wins.
Currently 11
th in the conference standings, Canisius is looking to snap a five-match losing skid, with its last win coming in the form of a 2-0 shutout at Iona on October 2. The Golden Griffins also salvaged a pair of ties on the year, and have yet to score more than two goals in a game on the season. Canisius has had points scored by 14 different players thus far, with Alessio Atzori and Lachlan Beever each having scored three goals.
Siena owns a 19-11-3 advantage in the all-time series between the pair, which began in 1987. The Saints have gone unbeaten in each of the last seven matches, including a 3-2 home triumph on March 18, 2021 which featured a goal from current sophomore
Jack Mendrysa, as well as a Canisius own goal. The Griffs have not taken a game in the series since October 16, 2013, with Siena holding a 6-0-1 mark at home in the series since 2008. Canisius' last win in Loudonville came on October 21, 2006 in the form of a 1-0 shutout.

Fans wishing to attend any Siena Athletics games held on campus are required to adhere to the Siena Athletics Spectator Policy.
