Siena to Host Screening of FIREFLY: The Tay Fisher Story

Movie Screening Featuring Former Siena Basketball Great to Be Held at UHY Center

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics announced that it will partner with Siena Men's Basketball great Tay Fisher '08 and HUDSY TV to host a screening of FIREFLY: The Tay Fisher Story. The screening will be held on Sunday, November 6 at 2 PM inside the UHY Center on the campus of Siena College, with doors opening to the public at 1 PM.

The screening will be free to attend, with donations to benefit Tay Fisher Basketball collected at the door. The first 50 entrants through the door will be granted a meet-and-greet with Tay Fisher and will receive an autographed poster.

Tay Fisher's basketball and life journey is one of determination, inspiration, teamwork, and downright talent - developing into one of the greats in 4-point shooting history during his 10 years on the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. As "Firefly" he enthralled fans around the world with his "Curly" Neal-inspired one-of-kind dribbling style and infectiously positive attitude. Today, Tay shares the challenges and guidance of his never-give-up story on and off the court, by mentoring kids and holding basketball camps in his hometown. The film was created by Nostrand Productions with the help of HUDSY TV and their Community Content Fund Program.

A four-year member of Siena Men's Basketball from 2004-08, Fisher averaged eight points per-game in 124 appearances for the Saints. As the lone senior on the 2007-08 squad, he scored 21 points in 22 minutes on his 22nd birthday to give Siena its first MAAC title in a decade on March 10, 2008, and netted 19 points in 18 minutes to guide the Saints over Vanderbilt in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Fisher finished his collegiate career with the second-most three-point shots made in Siena history (229) and still holds the program record for three-point field goal percentage in an NCAA Tournament game thanks to his 6-6 performance against the Commodores. He was named to the MAAC Honor Roll Class of 2018, and was recognized at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Those planning to attend the movie screening should RSVP beforehand at hudsy.tv/events.
