EDISON, NJ – Siena Men's Golf received the most first-place votes of anyone amongst their poll as the 2022 MAAC Preseason Coaches Polls for both the men and women were released Saturday morning.
The Siena men were chosen third, while the women were picked seven, both out of nine teams in their respective polls. The men received their highest preseason selection since the 2018-19 edition of the poll, when they were also chosen third.
Defending MAAC Men's Golf champion Iona took home the top spot in the men's poll, while Quinnipiac received five first place ballots to top the women's poll. Fairfield received three first place votes to finish three total votes ahead of the men, while UAlbany trailed the Bobcats by a single vote on the women's side.
The Siena men will look to catapult into the spring season using momentum from one of its most successful falls ever, which featured three top-5 team finishes and all nine team rounds under 300. The Saints set the program record for low team round with a mark of 283 in the Murray Cup against St. Bonaventure on October 8. Siena's women's team was led by junior
Emily Nash during the fall season, who carded an average score of 80.73.
The men commence spring action on Sunday, February 6 at the Veterans Intercollegiate in Winter Garden, Florida, while the women take the course for the first time at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL on March 11.
