Siena Opens Outdoor Track Season with School Record

Lomascolo Shattered Women’s 5k Mark at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, NC – Siena Outdoor Track began its 2022 season with a band Friday evening, setting yet another school record to continue a strong year for the cross country & track program as a whole. The Saints sent three runners to compete at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Saints' first-ever trip to the prestigious meet attended by over 150 schools was highlighted by senior Olivia Lomascolo shattering her own school record in the 5,000. The Ballston Lake, New York native ran a time of 16:27.45 to place 28th overall and beat her previous mark of 16:46.93 set during indoor track season in December.

Graduate student Regina Rosati also joined Lomascolo in competing in the 5k, running a time of 16:56.88 to place 83rd. Junior Brandon Olden represented the Siena men in the 10,000-meter race, placing 99th overall with a time of 30:47.68. Olden remains one just three Siena men to have ever gone under the 31-minute mark in the 10k.

The rest of the Saints will begin their outdoor track season on Saturday, March 26, when the team takes the track at the Monmouth Season Opener in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
