Siena Cross Country & Track Welcomes Incoming Class

Saints Add Nine For 2022-23 Season

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Cross Country & Track Head Coach John Kenworthy recently finalized the program's incoming recruiting class ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Saints will welcome three male and six female runners to the Green and Gold for a total of nine new Saints beginning next year.

Jayson Chichelli | Webster, New York | McQuaid Jesuit High School

Chichelli comes to the Saints after winning the Section Five Class B Cross Country Individual Championship in 2021.

Coach Kenworthy on Jayson: ""Jayson is one of the best seniors in New York State right now and he's got great range from the 800-meter event up through cross country. He's going to be a great asset for us in every season during his career at Siena."

Tyler Greene | Scotia, New York | Scotia-Glenville High School

A local product, Greene took 14th place at the 2021 New York State Class B Cross Country Championships back in the fall.

Coach Kenworthy on Tyler: "Tyler has shown that he can compete and win in both cross country and on the track. I think there is a lot of development potential in the next few years for him and we will see him contributing in all three seasons soon enough."

Stephanie Queiroz | Danbury, Connecticut | Danbury High School

Set to be the second Danbury native currently on the Saints' roster, Queiroz took 35th place at the 2021 New England Cross Country Championships during the fall of 2021.

Coach Kenworthy on Stephanie: ""Stephanie really impressed me this fall with a great debut cross country campaign. Coming off of being a soccer player her whole life, she's only going to build on that early cross country success while at Siena. Add in that she's consistently stepped up for a championship Danbury squad on the track, I know she's going to be a key piece to our success very soon."

Chloe Poulos | Beacon Falls, Connecticut | Woodland Regional High School

Poulos left high school as a champion, taking home the 2021 CIAC Class SS Individual Cross Country Title back in the fall of 2021. She also took home the 1600-meter individual state title at the 2022 CIAC Class M Track Championships.

Coach Kenworthy on Chloe: "Chloe's got the ability to contribute right away in cross country, and has shown she's a great championship racer in both the fall and on the track. She's getting better and better every season so I can't wait to see what the future brings for her at Siena."

Brody Santagata | Middletown, Connecticut | Xavier High School

Santagata will come to Siena after placing fifth at the 2021 CIAC Class L Cross Country State Championships last fall.

Coach Kenworthy on Brody: ""I'm excited about Brody's future at Siena. He comes from a very successful Xavier program that is well-trained and well-coached, and he has the tools to be an impact guy for us in cross country and the long distances on the track."

Additionally, Kenworthy also announced the commitment of four female walk-on runners to the program. The women's team will add Kate DeForest (Terryville, CT / Terryville HS), Izzy McNamee (Tolland, CT / Tolland HS), Mattingly O' Rourke (Schenectady, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake HS), and Julianna Tourangeau (Selkirk, NY / Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk HS).

"This group of recruited walk-on women have such a great mix of talents and experiences," Kenworthy stated about the group. "We're bringing in a group that helps us fill out groups at the mid-distances, steeplechase, cross country, and more. They have such varied backgrounds; some are coming from big time programs and know how to contribute in a championship team setting, and some are coming from small programs and are going to enjoy a big leap forward with the resources and team support they'll find day to day in our program. I'm excited to get them all into the fold and see them develop in so many ways."

The nine incoming Saints join a group that is expected to return 44 letterwinners from last season, and is coming off an unprecedented year which featured second and third place finishes at the MAAC Cross Country Championships, five MAAC Individual Champions, and three Ic4A individual titles.
