Siena Women's Cross Country's Olivia Lomascolo and Delia McDade Clay were named NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic selections for the first time in their collegiate careers, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Thursday evening. Both cross country teams also received USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors for the ninth consecutive year and were among 465 total programs to be honored.
Lomascolo and McDade Clay were among 171 women from 88 institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes by way of holding a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finishing in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships. Lomascolo placed 19th individually at the 2022 NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Nov. 11 and holds a 3.59 cumulative GPA as a nursing major, while McDade Clay took home a 22nd place finish and holds a 3.76 cumulative mark in psychology.
The women's program posted an impressive term GPA of 3.64 following the Fall 2022 semester, while the men's team recorded a team mark of 3.53. The teams set a school record with 29 student-athletes named to the 2022 MAAC all-Academic Team, including 15 from the women's program and 14 from the men's program.
Overall, 249 women's & 216 men's programs were recognized by the USTFCCCA. Team's needed to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in order to be recognized. This marks the ninth consecutive USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team honor for both programs and 15th in the last 17 years. The program has also been honored in track during each of the last eight seasons.
