Kalac, Spenziero Honored for Swimming, Diving Performances

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving was honored with MAAC weekly award winners for the second time in the first three weeks of the 2023-24 season, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon. Graduate student sprinter Rory Kalac took home MAAC Swimmer of the Week, while senior diver Talia Spenziero was heralded as the MAAC Diver of the Week.

Kalac swam to individual wins in the 50 free (24.38) and the 100 free (53.48) while anchoring Siena's winning 200 medley relay (23.95 50 free) and 200 free relay (23.73) teams in the Saints' tri-meet wins over Canisius and the University of Rochester last Saturday. The Huntersville, North Carolina native currently owns the second-fastest times in the 50 and the 100 in the league so far this season.

Spenziero won the one-meter diving (237.06) and placed third in the three-meter diving (216.06) events last Saturday, marking her second one-meter individual win of the year. The Clifton Park, New York product has placed inside the top-three in all one and three-meter diving events so far this season.

The pair join freshman Hope Ivanovich (October 11) in garnering a MAAC weekly award this season. Kalac picked up her fourth career Swimmer of the Week honor, while Spenziero has now been named Diver of the Week six times.

Siena continues fall action at Saint Francis (PA) on Saturday, November 4 at 10 AM.
