NEW YORK, NY – The Olivia Lomascolo jewelry tour continued for Siena Cross Country & Track to close out the 2023 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday evening. Siena's standout fifth year claimed her second individual MAAC title of the 2022-23 season at the New Balance Armory in New York City.
After claiming the 2022 MAAC Indoor Track 3k title last year and the 2022 MAAC Cross Country individual championship last fall, the Ballston Lake, New York product claimed the top spot in the 3,000 for the second straight year, running a time of 9:42.62 to rack up her third total MAAC individual title. The feat gave the Saints their third top finish of the meet, matching their hardware at the 2022 MAAC Outdoor Track Championships for the most ever taken home by the program at a postseason meet.
Both programs matched their best overall finishes in indoor track, with the men taking fifth (45) and the women finishing sixth (43).
The men's program came away with one second place and one third place finish, beginning with the 4x800 relay. The team of freshman Tyler Greene, junior Griffin Cooke, senior Tommy Anderson, and senior Matthew Laframboise finished four seconds off the lead with a mark of 7:45.43. Senior Brandon Olden followed up last year's 3k title with a third-place finish in a tight battle with a pair of Iona runners, finishing with a mark of 8:04.38.Classmate Anderson took third in the men's mile with a time of 4:15.60.
Additionally, the women's 4x800 relay team of freshman Chloe Poulos, junior Isabella Painter, sophomore Claire Gardner, and junior Jennifer McClintock took third with a mark of 9:19.07.
Anderson's performance in the mile was followed by Greene (4:16.44) and sophomore Luke Tkaczyk (4:17.10), who placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Gardner led the Saints in the women's mile with a time of 5:18:94 to finish fifth, while Poulos (5:21.02) took seventh and sophomore Julia Caputo (5:22.45) placed ninth.
The team's evening ended with both programs placing seventh in the 4x400 relays. The women's squad of freshman Julianna Tourangeau, freshman Izzy McNamee, senior Sophia Vinciguerra, and Caputo ran a time of 4:21.92, while the men's group of Tkaczyk, freshman PJ Dauer, junior Patrick Fiorillo, and sophomore Chris Bertola clocked a mark of 3:36.17.
Siena will next send select runners to take part in the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track Championships in Boston, Massachusetts March 3-5.
