Siena Women’s Soccer Appoints Captains, Announces Spring Schedule

Senior Trio Take Mantle of Leadership Heading Into Five-Match Spring Season

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Soccer Head Coach Steve Karbowski has set the wheels in motion for the 2023 Saints. Karbowski has announced the appointment of rising seniors Annie Bagnall, Grace Dimkopoulos, and Grace George as tri-captains for the upcoming fall season, while also unveiling the squad's five-match spring slate which kicks off on Sunday.

"We are pleased to name Annie, Grace, and Grace as our team captains for the upcoming Fall 2023 season," said Karbowski, who is set to enter his milestone 25th season at the helm this fall. "We are excited and fortunate to have a group of eight seniors entering the fall season who are so committed and dedicated to our women's soccer program. Our three captains will be great representatives of their class and the team. Each of them is committed and respectful members of the team and athletic department, as well as the Siena community. Their leadership will have the team in a position to compete at their highest level for a MAAC Championship."

Bagnall earned Third Team All-MAAC honors this past fall after pacing Siena in both points (11) and goals (five). The West Wyoming, Pennsylvania product was the only Saint to both appear in and start in all 18 matches during the 2022 season. Her team-high 1,439-minute campaign at striker included a pair of multi-goal performances. Bagnall has appeared in 43 career matches (25 starts) to date, tallying 21 total points on eight goals and five assists.

A native of Fayetteville, New York, Dimkopoulos has appeared in 33 career matches (12 starts) over her first three seasons at midfield. She played in all 18 matches while making her 12 career starts last fall, and scored the game-winning goal in the victory at Iona (Oct. 22). Dimkopoulos earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District acclaim last season, and has also been named to both the MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll in each year of eligibility.

George has been a three-year stalwart at outside back for the Saints, appearing in 47 career matches including 43 starts. The Robesonia, Pennsylvania product appeared in all 18 contests last fall while making 15 starts. Like her fellow tri-captain Dimkopoulos, George too was named a College Sports Communications Academic All-District selection last fall, and has also earned MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll honors in each year of eligibility.

Siena's new tri-captains will have their first opportunity to lead the team on the field this spring. The Saints' five-match spring schedule, which spans the next month, kicks off with four straight home tilts. The spring slate concludes with a showdown vs. crosstown rival UAlbany and a trip to BIG EAST foe St. John's:

The spring contests provide a great opportunity for the players to continue to develop and gain confidence leading into the fall season."
